		<description>I don&#039;t know if it was only an urban legend, but there was a persistent rumour in Victoria, British Columbia when I was growing up there, that it was technically illegal to get out of your car on the driver&#039;s side. The bylaw was in place from the time there were only horses and horse drawn vehicles, and to dismount from your wagon on that side was to risk spooking horses in the street. 

I believe it was also still legal, perhaps uniquely in Canada, to keep hens and ducks for domestic food production within the city limits of Victoria.</description>
